Anti-GAD (antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase)

Anti-GAD (antibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase) - this test is used to diagnose diabetes. The anti-GAD test is performed when it is necessary to differentiate between type I and type II diabetes, when gestational diabetes is detected in pregnant women, when the risk of congenital diabetes must be assessed. Anti-GAD is increased: Type I diabetes. A decrease in anti-GAD has no clinical value. If anti-GAD is within normal limits (after diagnosis of diabetes symptoms): type II diabetes, gestational diabetes of pregnant women.
