Determination of D dimers
The study is aimed at determining the concentration of fibrin degradation products (D-Dimers and X-oligomers) in human plasma. When combined with a low clinical probability, a normal result allows the exclusion of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) with high sensitivity.
D-dimers are a very sensitive marker of coagulation activation. When D-dimer values below the cutoff are obtained, lower extremity deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) can be ruled out with high sensitivity. It is increased when there is deep vein thrombosis, post-traumatic hemorrhage, postoperative conditions, the last trimester of pregnancy, malignant tumors, cirrhosis of the liver, myocardial infarction, unstable angina pectoris, IUD (intrauterine fetal death).
Recommendations:
- It is recommended to perform disease diagnostics and treatment control according to the doctor's instructions.
- The test results are affected by age, medications, pregnancy, chronic inflammatory and malignant diseases.
- To take the test, it is necessary to arrive without food for 12-14 hours and not to take aspirin for 3-5 days.
