Gardnerella vaginalis (PCR)

Gardnerella vaginalis - the test detects bacterial vaginosis caused by the bacterium Gardnerella vaginalis. Undiagnosed and untreated disease can become complicated and cause urinary tract infection, inflammation of the ovaries or cervix, premature birth, and increase the risk of miscarriage. It is very common during pregnancy, as well as a few weeks after giving birth. This happens due to changes in the acidity (pH) of the woman's vagina, additional physical exertion during pregnancy.
