Leukogram | Microscopy of hematopoietic cells

Microscopy of blood cells (leukogram) is an assessment of the percentage ratio of leukocyte classes. The leukogram must be determined together with an automatic complete blood test (BCT). The leukogram is evaluated by a medical biologist from one hundred leukocytes found in the smear. The advantage of this test is that the medical biologist, analyzing the smear, can find subtle changes in the morphology of leukocytes, which cannot be determined by the hematological analyzer (blasts, atypical mononuclear cells, toxic granularity, Auer rods, normocytes, etc.). During the leukogram examination, other changes can be found in the blood smear: erythrocyte morphology, hemoglobinization, identification of pathological forms of platelets, etc.
